Chemical control of hole-doped superconductivity and magnetism in Gd2ÀxCexRuSr2Cu2O10Àd

چکیده
Three Gd22xCexRuSr2Cu2O102d samples (x50.5, as prepared and after high pressure oxygenation and x 50.7) have been investigated by synchrotron powder x-ray diffraction and magnetization measurements. Precise coordinates and site occupancies for the oxygen atoms have been refined from the x-ray experiments. Estimates of the hole doping of the copper oxide planes based on the bond lengths, via the bond valence sum method, are found to be inaccurate. However, doping estimates based on the refined oxygen contents are in good agreement with the variation of superconductivity, and show that chemical doping, rather Cu/Ru band overlap, is the doping mechanism. The magnetic ordering temperatures of the Ru moments are not a simple function of the doping concentration, but depend upon both the Gd/Ce ratio and the oxygen content.

Spin excitations in hole-overdoped iron-based superconductors
Understanding the overall features of magnetic excitation is essential for clarifying the mechanism of Cooper pair formation in iron-based superconductors. In particular, clarifying the relationship between magnetism and superconductivity is a central challenge because magnetism may play a key role in their exotic superconductivity. BaFe2As2 is one of ideal systems for such investigation becaus...
متن کاملCompetition/Coexisitence of Magnetism and Superconductivity in Iron Pnictides Probed by Muon Spin Rotation
The presence of macroscopic phase separation into superconducting and magnetic phases in LaFeAsO1−xFx and CaFe1−xCoxAsF is demonstrated by muon spin rotation (μSR) measurement across their phase boundaries (x = 0.06 for LaFeAsO1−xFx and x = 0.075–0.15 for CaFe1−xCoxAsF). In LaFeAsO0.94F0.06, both magnetism and superconductivity develop simultaneously below a common critical temperature, Tm ≃ Tc...

Asymmetric features of various physical quantities in the normal and superconducting states between hole- and electron-doped cuprate high-temperature superconductors have been an issue of debate for a long time. Their exploration is very important for the understanding not only of the mechanism of high-Tc superconductivity but also of the nature of doped-Mott insulators. Presented in this rev...
متن کاملImportance of local band effects for ferromagnetism in hole-doped La2CuO4 cuprate superconductors.
Band calculations for supercells of La((2-x))Ba(x)CuO(4) show that the rigid band model for doping is less adequate than what is commonly assumed. In particular, weak ferromagnetism can appear locally around clusters of high Ba concentration. The clustering is important at large dilution, and averaged models for magnetism, such as the virtual crystal approximation, are unable to stabilize magne...
متن کاملEvidence for coexistence of superconductivity and magnetism in single crystals of Co-doped SrFe(2)As(2).
In order to investigate whether magnetism and superconductivity coexist in Co-doped SrFe(2)As(2), we have prepared single crystals of SrFe(2-x)Co(x)As(2), x = 0 and 0.4, and characterized them via x-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity in zero and applied field up to 9 T as well as at ambient and applied pressure up to 1.6 GPa, and magnetic susceptibility. At x = 0.4, there is both magnetic ...
